This
is sometimes called Rapid Prototyping, and refers to a family
of machines which construct an object by a build up of very
thin layers,(as opposed to machining parts away from an existing
piece of material). This process enables a complete 3D model
to be produced, with all internal detail and undercuts. Our
machines are the 'Sanders Modelmaker' type, producing the
object in a waxlike material, which is normally invested and
cast into silver as a master pattern. The silver master pattern
is then used either to make a mould for casting, or an electrode
for spark erosion of a stamping tool.

Objects
with embossed designs, ie without undercuts, can sometimes
be better produced by the more conventional machining methods,
such as CNC machining . The same 'virtual' computer model
data is used, but the shape is cut from a piece of machining
wax, or resin. The master pattern is then cast as for Rapid
Modelling. We can advise on the best solution for individual
designs if required.

| We
can accept clients CAD files for processing in the following
formats:- STL;DXF;SLC; plus JewelCad and Rhinoceros. However,
for those companies not yet designing in 3D CAD we can offer
an efficient and comprehensive design service. We use 3D modelling
software to convert your 2 dimensional design sketches, or samples,
into 'virtual models' on computer. The computer data representing
the object can be used to produce a model either by Rapid Modelling,
or by CNC machining.
